Personal Changes

I’ve started my new “101 Goals in 1001 Days” as of 11/2/11, and one of my goals is to live vice-free for at least a year, so no alcohol, tobacco, gambling, drugs, porn, etc. It’s not difficult for me because I’ve never been “addicted” to anything; it just takes a fairly conscious effort to be true to my goals and place myself in more productive situations. The whole point of lessening—or eliminating—my distractions is so that I may live with more purpose.

On 11/1/11, I ended several nights of partying/going out (an extended Halloween weekend) with a couple glasses of scotch before midnight.  It was a nice sendoff, but it almost felt as if it didn’t matter if I even imbibed at all, considering I was looking forward, not backward.

As I write this, I’m nearing the end of Day 3 of 1001 and am about ready to go to bed at 11pm.  I’ve already changed my sleep schedule from going to bed at 4 or 5am to waking up at 5 or 6am, and today is evidence of that—my best friend and I met at 5am, saw sunrise as we were longboarding on the roads by Pt. Reyes, hiked to Chimney Rock Point, and I shot some landscapes while the dawn light was perfect. By noon, we accomplished more than most people do in a whole day.

Work has been picking up since I got back from a summer work project that went very wrong (always have signed contracts, folks!), and I’m in the middle of producing two days of fashion shoots (11/25-26), working with Soul Pie to craft their media and public image to match the quality of their sound, lining up a temporary move to Los Angeles for the first half of 2012, and starting the planning phase of a 10-day viral fashion project in April to be sponsored by Profoto, Sekonic, X-Rite, and several designers/labels yet to be determined.

Here are several shots from the last couple months, starting with a current shot of myself from today:
